28 Jan Hidden Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Commercial Door Hardware
In general, people don’t pay too much attention to doors, particularly on commercial door hardware parts. These areas of your business are often taken for granted until something goes wrong.
If you’re a business owner, you know that neglecting even the smallest detail of your company may result in serious consequences. Thus, your doors and its hardware should always be functional, attractive, and efficient at all times.
With this in mind, here’s a number of hidden signs telling you it’s the right time for a commercial door hardware replacement.
Sensing Edge not Working
Sensing edges are attached to motor-driven doors. They protect automated overhead doors through an auto-stop or auto-reverse function. The bottom sensing edges reverse or stop once they come into contact with an obstruction.
One possible reason for malfunctioning sensing edges is an open circuit found in the bottom bar. To confirm if it’s the problem, disconnect the wiring at the bottom bar. Then, insert a continuity tester and examine its condition. Sensing edges may also fail if the door is located in a flooded or wet environment.
Overhead Door Won’t Open
If the motor unit doesn’t respond to the wall or remote control, the logic control board could be the culprit. Unplug the opener and examine the wiring connections on the panel. Are they working fine? If yes, wait a few minutes before plugging it back in. Take note that disconnecting the power resets the logic board. Try testing it to see if the opener works. If not, you will likely need a drive motor or logic board replacement.
